How completion works
Completing a course with us has three stages. You work through the course material, you complete the written assessment, and once your answers are accepted we issue your certificate and CPD record.
There is no time limit on completing your assessment, and no extra charge for it. It is included in the price of the course.
02
The assessment
Each course includes a written question-and-answer assessment covering the material in that course. The number and style of questions varies by course, and may include short written answers, applied scenarios and knowledge checks.
The assessment is open-book. You are expected to refer back to the course material — the purpose is to confirm that you have engaged with the content and understood it, not to test recall under pressure.
You complete it online, in your own time, through your account.
03
What we are looking for
We are looking for evidence that you have genuinely worked through the material and understood the key principles. A good submission:
We are not marking your writing style, spelling or presentation. We are checking understanding.
04
Marking and turnaround
Assessments are reviewed by us and are not automatically marked by software. Because a person reviews each submission, please allow a reasonable period for your result — we aim to review submissions within ten working days of receiving them.
Busy periods, holidays and unusually long submissions can take a little longer. If you have not heard from us after fifteen working days, please email us and we will chase it up.
You will be notified by email at the address on your account once your assessment has been reviewed.
05
Resubmissions
If your answers do not yet demonstrate sufficient understanding — for example if questions have been left unanswered, answers are very brief, or a key point has been misunderstood — we will not simply fail you.
We will tell you which areas need more work, ask you to review the relevant module, and invite you to resubmit.
06
Your certificate
Once your assessment is accepted, we issue a certificate of completion. Certificates are issued digitally only, by email to the address on your account. We do not post printed certificates.
Your certificate will show your name as it appears on your account, the course title, the date of completion and the Open CPD credits awarded. Please make sure your name is spelled correctly in your account before you submit — we will correct a genuine error, but we cannot issue a certificate in a different person’s name.
Keep your certificate safe. We can usually reissue a copy on request, but please do not rely on us as your only record — download and store it yourself.
07
Open CPD credits
Successful completion carries Open CPD credits. CPD credits recognise structured learning time and are widely used by practitioners to evidence ongoing professional development for insurers, employers and professional bodies.
The number of credits reflects the expected learning hours for that course and is shown on the course page and on your certificate.
08
Your own work
Your assessment must be completed by you. You may refer freely to the course material and to your own notes, but you must not:
Where we believe a submission is not your own work, we may decline it, ask you to complete a replacement assessment, or withdraw access and revoke any certificate already issued. No refund will be due. This matters because a certificate from us should mean something — for you, and for every other practitioner who holds one.
09
Verifying a certificate
If an insurer, employer or professional body needs to confirm that a certificate we issued is genuine, they can contact us at
[email protected] and we will confirm whether the named person completed the course and on what date.
We keep completion records so that we can do this. We will not share your assessment answers or any other personal information with a third party without your consent, unless we are required to by law.
10
Corrections and reissues
If there is an error on your certificate — a misspelled name, the wrong course title or an incorrect date — tell us and we will correct and reissue it at no charge.
If you have lost your certificate, email us and we will reissue a copy where our records allow.
If your legal name changes, we can reissue your certificate in your new name on reasonable evidence of the change.
11
Withdrawal of a certificate
We may withdraw a certificate and the associated CPD record where:
Where a certificate is withdrawn for any of these reasons, no refund is due, and we may notify a relevant regulator or insurer where we consider patient safety is at risk.
12
If you disagree with an outcome
If you believe your assessment has been reviewed unfairly, tell us within 28 days of receiving the outcome. Email
[email protected] with your name, the course, and why you disagree.
We will review the submission again, look at the feedback given, and respond in writing. Where we got it wrong, we will put it right and issue your certificate.
If you remain unhappy after that, our Complaints Procedure sets out the next step.
13
Questions about your assessment
If you are stuck on the material, unsure what a question is asking, or waiting on a certificate, email
[email protected] with your name and the course title. We would rather help you finish than have you give up part-way through.
